Burnley v West Ham preview

West Ham entered last weekend’s international break in buoyant mood having signed off with back to back wins and three wins in their last four, which will leave them confident ahead of their trip to the Premier League’s bottom side.

David Moyes’ side had lost four of their last five matches in all competitions prior to their 1-0 win over Olympiacos in the Europa League a fortnight ago, which preceded a thrilling 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest in the league.

The win over Forest at the London Stadium lifted the Irons back into the top half of the table, where they find themselves in ninth heading into this weekend, sitting just three points behind Manchester United in sixth place.

Conversely, the East London side are just two points ahead of 13th placed Crystal Palace in what is a typically tightly-packed Premier League table, ahead of their match with a Burnley side rooted to the bottom.

Vincent Kompany’s side, who stormed to the Championship title last season, racking up over a century of points and finishing 10 points higher than the next best team, have managed just one league win all season.

That sole victory came at fellow newly-promoted Luton at the start of October, though the Lancashire club have since lost six matches in all competitions, and have accrued just four points from their 12 league matches so far.

The Clarets have lost all six of their home matches this season in all competitions, though despite their torrid run, find themselves just two points from safety and could climb out of the bottom three with a win on Saturday.

The last two meetings between the two sides have both ended in draws, but West Ham have only won one of their last five trips to Turf Moor, and have failed to score in three of the last four.

Burnley v West Ham betting tips

West Ham have hit hard by injuries to a number of their squad over the course of the international break, but should still be expected to get the job done against a side who haven’t picked up a point all season at home.

Sky Bet are offering 7/1 odds for West Ham to win 2-1, which may well be worth a punt come Saturday.
