CANDLER COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) – Candler County received national recognition as having the sixth most projects per capita in the country.

Candler County leaders said they have seen lots of growth in the past few years in everything from agriculture to manufacturing. They say its all part of being a community determined to grow.

“I’m still a little bit shocked about it because I never in a million years would’ve thought that we would actually get a ranking like this,” said Hannah Mullins, Industrial Executive of Candler.

She says the ranking represents the economic growth that Candler County has experienced by cultivating industries.

Hannah Mullins, the Industrial Executive of the county, says that besides the county’s well-known agricultural industries, they were chosen to host two of Hyundai’s suppliers.

“DAS North America is the first one that we landed, they are creating three hundred jobs and about 40 million in investment, which is huge for us. The largest project to land in Candler County,” Mullins said.

The second going into the industrial park is Doowan Climate Control Systems for Hyundai.

They will be creating more than two hundred jobs with 30 million in investment.

Mullins says the community collaboration and support made this innovation possible.

“You can’t get that in just any community, it don’t happen,” said Mullins.

Mullins says she hopes the newcomers adding to the population support and cares about the county a much as the locals do.

“My hope is that it really impacts the small business and helps generate more sales for them, more people come in to look at us. Whether it is tourism, shopping, or industrial,” Mullins said.

WTOC will keep you updated on the progress of these industries including the Hyundai supplier manufacturers that are opening their doors in August.
