The Delta Work Grand National odds for 2023 sees last year’s bronze medallist high up in the betting again as he tries to go two places better on Saturday 15th April.
Delta Work Grand National Odds: Last Year’s Third Set to Run Another Big Race
Last year Grand National fans might remember a horse called Delta Work running well to finish third and he’s back for more – hoping to go two places better in 2023.
He was 22 lengths behind the winner Noble Yeats so has a bit of ground to make up, but the good news for his backers is that he’s a lot better off at the weights this time (more below).
Delta Work has had a very similar lead-up to the Aintree race too. He recently won the Cross-Country Chase at the Cheltenham Festival (watch below) – a race he also took in 2022 before heading to the Grand National.
You can support DELTA WORK for the 2023 Grand National at 10/1 – you can back him here and also get the best Grand National betting offers.

Delta Work Has a Huge Grand National Trend to Defy?
The negative ahead of Delta Work’s 2023 Grand National bid is that he’s got a few hefty trends to overcome.
The first being that, believe it, or not, winning a race at the Cheltenham Festival is not ideal. Since 1961, only three horses have won at the Festival and followed-up in the Grand National in the same season.
Secondly, horses that either won or were placed in the previous year’s National also don’t have a great record. In the last 36 years, 80 horses that were either placed (or won) the race 12 months earlier have come back for more and only two horses have managed to win.
What Weight Will Delta Work Carry in The 2023 Grand National?
This year, in 2023, Delta Work is rated 159 and that’s a pound lower than last year. He also carried 11st 9lb in the 2022 Grand National but has a bit less this time – 11st 4lbs.
He was 22 lenghts behind Noble Yeats 12 months ago too, but with last year’s winner hiked up the weights and Delta Work remaining around the same – the Gordon Elliott runner is better off. Last year Delta Work had to give Noble Yeats 13lbs – but his year Noble Yeats is giving Delta Work 7lbs.
In short – this means a 20lbs weight swing in favour of Delta Work.
Trainer Gordon Elliott Looking for His Fourth Grand National Success
Delta Work is also in capable Grand National hands, seeing as his trainer Gordon Elliott has won the race three times in the past. Of the current batch of trainers this makes Elliott the most successful on show.
Elliott’s National wins came in 2007 with Silver Birch and twice with Tiger Roll in 2018 and 2019.
Gigginstown House Stud Have a Cracking National Record
The other feather in the cap for Delta Work is that he’s got some owners that love to win the Grand National. Gigginstown House Stud and Michael O’Leary of Ryanair fame have mopped up three Nationals since 2016.
Tiger Roll has won them two, while Rule The World was the shock 33/1 winner in 2017.
