BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) – Politicians and developers came together to break ground in Bridgeport for the new Mon Health Harrison Neighborhood Hospital.

Officials told WDTV they’re excited to see what this does for the community.

“The City of Bridgeport is thrilled to have this declared at Charles Pointe. Mon Health is a vitally needed addition to our community,” said Jonathan Griffith, Bridgeport City Councilor.

Phase one of the project will be the hospital’s sewer and electrical infrastructure, which will cost about $11-million-dollars by itself. City officials say they hope this is just the start of more economic development in the area.

“Charles Pointe is already a great development, they’ve built a lot of development on the other side, plus Menards on this side. The development on this site has been a little slower to get started. But now with Mon Health, Menards is already established. Hopefully, Mon Health will be here soon, hopefully, we will see a lot more in the future,” said Griffith.

The groundbreaking Tuesday comes just about two years after Mon Health opened a similar neighborhood hospital in Marion County.
