MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — The Laurel College of Technology kicked off its annual week of service this week with two local organizations set to receive monetary donations.

During this week the college will donate to the WVU Children’s Hospital and Animal Friends of North Central West Virginia.

Events planned throughout the week include raffle ticket drawings, student salon services, on-site food trucks and STEM projects for children in the community. These events will be happening at the Morgantown campus, located at 200 Wedgewood Drive just off Van Voorhis Road.

“It, it teaches the students about comradery and also being a part of the community and making sure that they give back as well, and it really gives them a sense of pride and they enjoy doing it,” Campus President Sherri Rimel said.

On Thursday, the college will hold a literacy reading where children will have the chance to come pick a book to be read to them. They then get to take the book home and add it to their library.
