JENKINS, Ky. (WYMT) – In the Spring, officials with Mountain Comprehensive Health Corporation opened their mobile health clinic to reach those in rural areas.

Healthcare providers working at the clinic help screen blood pressure, check A1C levels, provide basic check ups, and more.

Megan Hughes with MCHC said they are also working to help people who do not have access to healthcare and might face several barriers.

“It allows us to provide service to under served population in communities, who wouldn’t normally have those services,” she said. “It allows our healthcare professionals to travel to different communities to provide services such as medical exams, laboratory services, and health education.”

On Wednesday, the clinic was in Jenkins.

Hughes said they want to bring it to several communities throughout the region.

“Ultimately, we are promoting better health outcomes and wellbeing in the community. It allows us to bring quality healthcare directly to you,” she explained. “The need is there for more services, and more opportunities to provide those services.”

She said they are working with people that come to the clinic to schedule follow up appointments.

Hughes added to request a clinic, you can call their Whitesburg clinic at (606) 633-4871.
