Usher WON’T be paid for Super Bowl as 45-year-old pop megastar performs 13-minute halftime show – but will see the REAL payout at a later date

Usher will not be paid for his performance at the Super Bowl due to the marketing value of the 13-minute show. 

The 45-year-old star is set to use the to jump start his year and push streams and sales of his new album ‘Coming Home’, which came out two days ago. 

In a report by Forbes, the outlet reported that the arrangement pays off for the Super Bowl performer due to the incredibly high number of viewers watching it. 

Forbes said that last year’s performer Rihanna saw a digital song sales increase of 390 percent, and spikes in the sales of her Fendy Beauty products. 

Usher also has licensing agreements in place for a fragrance line and cognac brand Remy Martin, which could also see a sales bump following the game.

Naima Cochrane, a former marketing executive at Columbia and Epic Records, told Forbes: ‘There is no bigger moment of impact.

‘It would be ridiculous not to have a call to action that folks can take immediately following, like as soon as he says goodnight, there needs to be a button somebody can push to spend some money to do something for him.’ 

While the custom for halftime headliners has been for them to perform for three, some artists have funneled their own money into the performance in the past. 

The Weeknd reportedly spent $7 million to stage his performance, with Dr. Dre spending the same amount to ensure the show went with his vision. 

Usher has promised to take fans through a setlist showcasing his 30-year discography, telling Vogue that the show will feel like a personal serenade.

The star previously joined The Black Eyed Peas during the halftime show for Super Bowl XLV in 2011.

He descended onto the stage from above to perform his hit song ‘OMG’ alongside will.i.am. 

In a recent interview on Good Morning America, he told the show: ‘Since that day, I think, I had it in my mind that I wanted to go back to the stage.’ 

In his press conference ahead of the show, the star claimed he would be a ‘fool,’ to not perform his hit 2004 song Yeah, with the featured artists Ludacris and Lil Jon.

They’ve been in regular contact,’ an insider dished to DailyMail.com. ‘He’s been studying her during rehearsals so you’ll see some of her influence in the Pop part of his set.’

The source added that Janet has been sharing valuable words of wisdom to ensure the Burn hitmaker remembers to enjoy the moment.

‘Janet has been encouraging him to focus on having fun and see the performance as a celebration more than anything,’ they said.

‘Usher’s first big touring break came when Janet Jackson invited him to open up for her Velvet Rope Tour. He’s always been grateful.’

They continued: ‘One of his favorite Janet tours is The RockWitU Tour because it had futuristic themes and you’ll see a lot of it in the show.’

Janet famously graced the Super Bowl stage with her own set in 2004, however the night is now remembered for her unfortunate wardrobe malfunction during a duet with Timberlake.
