This week’s nominees for Courier Journal boys athlete of the week feature some track & field stars as well as standouts on the baseball diamond.

Voting is underway for The Courier Journal’s boys athlete of the week. The poll closes at 6 p.m. Thursday, and the winner will be announced Friday.

Jaxon Coomer, St. Xavier, baseball

Sophomore Jaxon Coomer had three hits, including a double, two RBIs and one stolen base to help the Tigers beat Fern Creek.

Whitman Goodwin, Trinity, track & field

Trinity sophomore Whitman Goodwin was clocked in 2:05.63 in the 800 meters and set a personal record in the 1,600 (4:40.14) to bring home two JV championships.

Kaden Mack, Manual, track & field

Manual freshman Kaden Mack won a JV championship after running a personal-record 11.08 in the 100-meter dash. 

Eli Nutter, DeSales, baseball

Junior Eli Nutter had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs to help the Colts defeat North Oldham. He also recorded three strikeouts in relief.

Connor Sauss, Bullitt East, baseball

Junior Connor Sauss had three hits, two RBIs and one stolen base to help power Bullitt East to a 9-4 road victory against No. 4 Pleasure Ridge Park.
