BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC)- In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month and to honor the legacy of Donny Hathaway, Brother Let’s Talk is hosting a tribute concert in downtown Birmingham this Friday, May 24.
The concert happens at the Uptown Jazz Lounge, 2250-B 9th Ave N, Birmingham, with two shows at 7:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Hathaway was a soul singer and songwriter who dealt with mental illness throughout his life. Organizers say the event aims to raise awareness about mental health issues in the community in a relaxed setting. Tickets are free but can be reserved here.
Brother Let’s Talk promotes mental health awareness and support for men of color. The event is hosted in partnership with Birmingham Cares.
