Great Plains Technology Center instructor apologizes after saying racist remarks in recording

TILLMAN CO., Okla. (KSWO) – After reports of a nearly hour-long recording was released where a Frederick Great Plains Technology Center instructor can be heard saying multiple racist remarks toward Black and Hispanic people, the instructor sent out a statement apologizing.

In the statement, Bryan Smith says he wants to apologize to his family, friends, coworkers, students and their families. Smith goes on to say he spent his life trying to build race relations in the community.

In a series of videos posted on YouTube, people can hear a conversation between Smith and Tillman County Sheriff candidate Robert Wallace. In the video, along with the racial remarks, Smith could be heard saying “I only teach at the Vo Tech for the money.”
