Before setting up your Instagram Shop, ensure your business checks the following for eligibility.

  • Your business is located in a supported region where Instagram Shop can be accessible. 
  • You sell a physical and eligible product.
  • Your business aligns with Instagram’s merchant and commerce policies.
  • Your business owns an eCommerce website.
  • You have a business profile on Instagram. 

If your account is set up as a personal profile, you can easily modify it to a business profile.

  • Scroll down and select “Account type and tools.”

  • Select a category that best describes your business and tap continue.
  • Select “Business” and tap next.

  • Connect your account to Facebook.

After connecting to your Facebook account, you will be requested to complete a few steps to set up your business account. This involves filling out your profile, expanding your audience, and determining your goals. You can set these up immediately or later.

How to add an online shop on Instagram

Step 1: Switch to your Business or Creator Account

Refer to the outline above to switch your account to a business account or add a new account if you do not have a business account.

Step 2: Set up a Commerce Manager

Setting up a commerce manager allows you to choose a checkout method where you want customers to complete their purchases. To set up a commerce manager click on Facebook Business

Step 3: Upload your product catalog

This is the step where you upload all of your items. You have a few different alternatives here. You may either manually enter each product into the Commerce Manager or import a pre-existing product database from a recognized eCommerce platform.

Step 4: Submit your account for review

After uploading your catalog, submit your account for review. It is important to note that reviews take a couple of days, but sometimes it might run longer.

Step 5: Turn on Instagram Shopping

After you’ve completed the account evaluation, it’s time to link your product catalog to your Instagram Shop.

  • Go to your Settings and activity
  • Tap Business tools and controls.
