RUSTON, La. (KNOE) – The College of Engineering and Science at Louisiana and the Institute of Micro-manufacturing at Louisiana Tech University were awarded 1.3 million dollars by the United States Air Force through the U.S. Department of Defense Grant.

The Grant will be used to enhance military technology, advance the lifespan of technology, and help in diagnosing issues in technology. Director of the Institute of Micro-manufacturing Dr. Arden Moore said they will now be able to work on new materials for military devices and create more space for research.

He said, ” This Grant will help us to look at the root causes of failure in technology and enhance strategies to help those electronics last longer, which includes sensors, wearable computers, and diagnostic testing. A lot of that technology can then transfer to things like consumer goods, automobiles, and more. “

Officials said they believe this Grant will impact technology and economic development in Louisiana.
