BELVIDERE, Ill. (WIFR) – On Monday, Rep. Darin LaHood stopped by Rock Valley College’s Advanced Technology Center in Belvidere for a guided tour.
The tour was designed to show off the positive impact the facility and the college has on the city’s economy. LaHood says the facility at 1400 Big Thunder Blvd. is a local driving force behind what he calls “new collar jobs,” which he says are essential to the city and the country.
“Well, our community colleges, specifically Rock Valley, we’re looking for ways we can help and assist them with the work they’re doing here,” said Rep. LaHood, 16th District. “Whether it’s tax credits, whether that’s grants, whether that’s community funding projects to help assist them in order to build out a better operation here, to hire more people that can help teach, but also to invest.”
