BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) – Today, T.J. Regional Health announced a major expansion coming to the T.J. Health Pavilion in Glasgow.

The $6.8 million expansion will add 31,000 square feet onto the third floor of the facility, allowing for expanded healthcare offerings to the region.

Neil Thornbury, CEO of T.J. Regional Health, said during the announcement that when the Pavilion was under construction it was built with growth in mind.

“We have several shelled spaces, the third floor being one of those throughout this pavilion,” Thornbury said. “We knew we were going to be serving a whole community, and in healthcare, you just never know the way things are going to evolve, develop, shape, and turn.”

According to a press release by T.J. Regional Health, the Pavilion sees thousands of patients each year from across the United States, and growth will continue to create the need for additional medical office space.

$2.1 million was awarded to awarded in Community Project Funding at the federal level for the project, with an additional $2 million awarded from Kentucky’s state budget.

During the announcement, Thornbury said he expects the project to be completed within the next 12 to 20 months.

Construction is expected to begin once the required application process is completed through the USDA Rural Development Office.
