WAMEGO, Kan. (WIBW) – The Wamego Health Center held a ribbon cutting this morning for its new MRI suite.

The 1.5-tesla magnetogram MRI scanner was completed in under a year and was funded by the Wamego Hospital Foundation. Wamego City Commissioner Dr. Bill Ditto and Jake Pugh, Chair of the Wamego Hospital Foundation Board shared brief comments. The new MRI suite is made possible with the partnership between the City of Wamego and Ascension Via Christi.

”This is a really important thing for our community, previously we have been having an MRI on the back of a truck which is a nice thing but its only available twice a week so with our new MRI scanner here in house we’re able to provide 5 to 7 days of MRI scans for our patients, both for inpatient and outpatient that need it here in our community,” said Brain Howells, hospital administrator for the Wamego Health Center.

The suite will be open to patients on May 13th.
